Moni Winanso Wachisangalalo Kuchokera Kwa Masistere A ChimalalawiOnce again happy greetings from the Malawian Sisters)We are enjoying Autumn because it’s not really too hot compared with summer. The trees are beautifully colored, and the leaves have started falling which shows that winter is near.
New Novices Sisters Patricia Taonga and Georgina with Mother Miriam in the Convent Garth after their Clothing The 25th of August was a wonderful day. It was the day we were clothed as Novices which shows that we have taken a further step in our spiritual life—Praise God! We are still learning a lot of skills besides the ones mentioned in our last article. We have started to learn sewing and to be cantrices. We are really enjoying both.
On 20th September we went with Sister Mary Elizabeth to a Cornell University Agricultural Extension Program called the Caprine Outing. We saw many varieties of goats. We participated in classes in making hard cheese, emergency treatments, teaching goats to pack and drive, how to trim hooves, how to evaluate hay, how to keep your herd healthy and other hands-on workshops.
On the 2nd of October we went to pick apples, and we were so interested to see how big the apple orchard was. It was too big, but the apples looked so lovely. The food from our garden is so delicious. We have so many things to harvest, for example, millet, corn, eggplant, and squashes. Our pumpkins were so big and orange in color. The sweet potatoes were ready at the end of October. We have planted some fall lettuce and winter crops of wheat, oats and barley. Our chickens have grown up and continue to lay eggs, but we lost one chicken which reduces the number. Our goats are doing well, and we continue to milk them.
Our Sisters Monica, Martha, and Maria Nema returned home on the 7th of September. While we were five sisters together this summer we recorded our Malawian music on tape to sell later to raise money for our Convent. We enjoyed the singing very much. We miss our Sisters now that they are gone home, but we are happy that they are starting our community in Malawi. Finally we wish to offer thanks to all friends who are supporting us. We hope that you will continue praying for us and for our three Sisters in Mzuzu. We appreciate all your prayers while we have this opportunity to learn to become Sisters. ZIKOMO! THANK YOU! AMBUYE AKUDALITSENI NONSE!! GOD BLESS YOU ALL |
