Greetings from the Sisters of St. Mary,
Luwinga, Malawi
Dear Friends in Christ,
Our life has been so interesting this last year. We know that
you still pray for us. Thanks be to God that now we have our
chaplain, Father Mkoweka. He is a retired priest. He was the
dean of St. Peter’s Cathedral on Likoma Island. He came
to Luwinga Parish and us on the 24th of November, 2003. He
is good and hard working priest. We all like him. We have our
daily mass in the Convent. We thank our Bishop, the Rt. Rev.
Christopher Boyle, for sending him.
Our vegetable garden is bigger now since we have added a greenhouse
where we will plant tomatoes and lettuce. During the rainy
season not many people grow tomatoes, so they are expensive
to buy. Some people use chemicals to protect their tomatoes.
We are against chemicals so we have built a simple greenhouse.
We did it all by ourselves. We couldn’t manage a real
greenhouse which is so expensive. Some people do have greenhouses
here. Our crop yield for last year was very good. Many people
have learned a lot from our farm.
We have goats, one male and two females. They are cute and fun. Their names are Courage, Patience and Determination. We also have chickens. We have 49 broilers and 20 layers.
We would like to thank all the people who are supporting us, because your prayers strengthen and comfort us. Please continue doing so. Thank you for your generosity that now we are able to purchase the vehicle. It is still on order. Bless your hearts!
