Greetings from Our Sisters in Malawi

The five Malawian Junior Sisters

Junior Sisters Patricia Taonga, Monica, Martha, Maria Nema, and Georgina

This is the height of summer in Malawi and our Junior Sisters are hard at work on their farm. See the glad smiles greeting you! The building in the background is their newly constructed sacristy. We did not give the chapel any storage space in our original drawings so poor Sr. Monica has sacrificed her office for two years to be the Sacristy. Bricks on hand for building the compound wall were waiting for surveyors to verify the Sisters’ property lines. Rather than have them crumble in the rainy season, the Sisters decided to go ahead and build the Sacristy. Father Mkoweka, their Chaplain, was very impressed to have a proper place for the laying out of his vestments.

Malawian Sisters with fryers they raised for marketOur Associates and friends at St. Paul’s Parish, K St., Washington, DC, raised the funds to build a chicken house in time for the Sisters to raise and sell fryers for the customary Malawian Christmas chicken dinner. They are also raising laying hens for eggs to sell.
